The main process flow of the PO/SM method involves first reacting ethylbenzene with oxygen to form ethylbenzene hydroperoxide (EBHP). Subsequently, in the presence of a catalyst, propylene undergoes an epoxidation reaction with ethylbenzene hydroperoxide to produce crude propylene oxide (PO), while co-generating 2-methylbenzyl alcohol as a byproduct. The crude propylene oxide is then refined to obtain the final product.
